Noise cancellation is not necessarily a good thing.
I saw a question the other day on a Yahoo! group I monitor about the best Active Noise Reduction (ANR) headset choice. I really wanted to jump in an tell him not to do it. While I understand the desire to make the drone of the engine go away, all those noises are the aircraft talking to you. Does the engine sound right? How about the propeller or transmission (helo)? Are there any new or unusual sounds?
Do you use an ANR headset? Why or why not?
